The FDA has issued a new Consumer Warning on raw Serrano Peppers as well as raw Jalapeno Peppers. FDA advising consumers to avoid raw Serrano Peppers from Mexico, in addition to raw jalapeno peppers from Mexico, as well as any foods that contain them.

Monday afternoon the FDA announced the discovery of Salmonella Saintpaul strain on a jalapeno pepper grown in Mexico. The Jalapeņo peppers were distributed in GA and TX.

To err on the side of Food Safety, we have suspended sales of fresh Jalapeņo peppers until further notice.

The FDA has announced a recall on jalapeņo peppers, serrano peppers and avocados imported from Mexico by Grande Produce LTD. CO Hidalgo,Texas.

We have received written assurance from our supplier that Stanz has not received any product from this packer, for at least a year. The recall is clearly pointed to this one packer.

This recall is not related to the ongoing Salmonella outbreak.

The FDA has now lifted all warnings on the consumption of tomatoes.The source of the salmonella outbreak has not been identified,but, all tomatoes in the marketplace have been deemed safe to eat.

The FDA update attached below states:"While we are changing our consumer guidance about tomatoes, we reiterate our guidance to consumers that those in vulnerable populations ( infants, the elderly, and inmune-compromised people) should avoid eating jalapeņo and serrano peppers as the investigation continues"
